Our Retreat Venue – Villa La Chimera

Yoga Retreat in Tuscany, ItalyOur Yoga Retreat in Tuscany, Italy will be held at The Villa La Chimera, which is a lovingly restored 600 year old village fortress set on medieval terraces  in traditional Tuscan style with beautiful antiques, set in a spectacular Tuscan valley. The house is just inside the border that separates Tuscany from Umbria. This is a very special part of the province, benefiting from a more dramatic mountainous landscape than can be found elsewhere in Tuscany.

The property is totally private and secluded, yet close to conveniences. The wooden yoga deck is great for all our classes including meditation, yoga, or just having an evening frolic!  A massage therapist will be on-site to avail of  (optional ) after a long day of sampling the local goods! On the retreat, you will have the option of as much free time and space as you need so you can explore and rest at your leisure.

Tuscany is famous for its culture and history. There is much to explore close by, including hot springs, local villages and many more vineyards to explore. On-site you will be able to hire a bike to explore or go for a hike to be truly immersed in nature under the Tuscan Sun. There are plenty of places to just chill, relax and unwind on-site, whether it’s sunbathing, reading or star-gazing and meditation reflection, you will feel completely immersed. The Program

Our program for our Yoga Retreat in Tuscany, Italy, includes the yoga shala, embraces the natural elements and feeling connected with our bodies. The perfect space to dive deep into the practice. With hardwood floors and a modern-rustic feel, you will be immersed not just in the practice of yoga but also in the natural surroundings. Just like the yoga practice, this yoga immersion embraces the tradition of yoga using ancient and modern technique to help your practice deepen within a warm and welcoming feel. This retreat is all about finding balance.

Yoga styles – Dynamic flow & Yin Yoga

Yoga am: In the mornings a slow, strong, alignment-based Vinyasa practice will explore some intelligent sequencing, informed alignment and encouraging us to slow down and take a full reset from life. Your morning practices will be challenging and awakening, yet accessible for all levels.

Yoga pm: In the evenings a long, slow, and deep Yin practice. Postures are usually low to the ground and are held for longer periods of time to bring stillness , vitality & balance back into the body and mind. Carmel is trained in yin yoga and will be incorporating Traditional Chinese Medicine elements into each practice to bring more awareness into coming into balance.

These practices give you time to rest after the busy day, digest and drop into a state of deep relaxation.

Both Carmel and Kathryn are meditation teachers offering mindfulness and pranayama practices.

We can reflect in the quietness in the evenings on the yoga Shala deck with the stunning views around nature.

Participants should have a regular yoga practice and be comfortable with a vinyasa class; participants should be confident modifying when they need to and be open to exploring and adventuring on the mat.

Chair/Therapy Yoga - 14th September @ 9:45 a.m.

Chair/Therapy Yoga is a moderate exercise that promotes flexibility and strength, and is suitable for all, especially people with limited/restricted mobility or those wanting a gentler pace class and who want to do something about their health and well-being, but cannot, for various reasons, sit on a yoga mat for any length of time.

Classes begin with a warm-up through breathing, stretching, and mobility exercises, and continue with guided movements for each part of the body, using props if necessary with most of the class done seated on a chair. Benefits include improved circulation, increased mobility, improved digestion and enhances brain function. Students are always advised to work at their own pace.

Chair yoga is an open-level class and is suitable for all.

Yin Yoga - 13th September @ 8:00 p.m.

Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s a slower and more meditative class, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body.

Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time than you would in traditional styles of yoga, yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.

Energetically by stretching and deepening into the connective tissue, we’re opening up any blockages and releasing energy Qi ( vital energy) to restore healthy flow. All poses are done seated and poses are typically held for longer to access deeper tissues. The class also focuses on meditation to enhance overall holistic health. The class is open to all levels and can be done after eating and wearing your comfiest PJs!

Dynamic Flow - 13th September @ 6:00 p.m.

Dynamic Flow is a flow class sequencing poses in an instructive and informed way, linking breath and movement with particular attention to functional alignment using alternative ways to explore and enhance posture, flexibility, and mobility.

The class will include both seated and standing poses and some props will be used.

The class includes the fundamentals of breath work and meditation to deepen one’s practice. Level 1-2.
