Astanga Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures – a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

The practise brings joints and muscles through their movement developing elasticity and suppleness. It includes many weight – bearing postures beneficial to women. The practise improves balance and strength, energises and releases tension. The particular breath ( Ujjaii or victorious ) stimulates the nervous system, oxygenates the blood, encourages internal cleansing and aids meditation.
